Overview History of OpenMI Description of Work (DoW) Pinios Use Cases Scheldt Use Cases
The OpenMI-LIFE project's rationale lies in the Water Framework Directive, which demands an integrated approach to water management. In 2001 the European Commission funded (under the Fifth Framework Program) a research project named HarmonIT in order to develop and implement a European Open Modeling Interface that would simplify the linking of Hydrology related models. The goal of OpenMI-LIFE is to support the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and, more particularly, make integrated water management feasible.
